Little has been made of our club record attendance.
It used to be a football obsession, what is your clubs record attendance?

The Boleyn being so limited in area never achieved an attendance recorded over 42,300 though often, back in the day, I had my doubts as were frequently packed 2 at a time through the north bank turnstiles on the bigger fixtures.

The Eintracht game springs to mind in particular but we will never know the truth.

But now it's unequivocal, 53,914 is the latest official record for a home fixture, almost certainly to be beaten on Sunday and again against Bournemouth......

Does it really mean much these days?

Last night the noise, at times, was unprecedented, an extra 20,000 or so voices makes a massive difference as does that roof.

Sitting back in my seat to take it all in the London Stadium, even nearly full, is a truly impressive sight. More so when its fully up and running at 60,000 and I understand, it will be 66,000 next season.

Football has changed so much since my first Hammers home game in 1974. Out of all recognition in fact, should we even bother with the old records?

Onwards and upwards, keep the momentum, keep breaking records, how far can we go?

OK, not our home ground but 200,000 odd at the first ever Wembley final is pretty impressive, maybe even a world record???

Not only that but I was in the bobby moore stand and could hear the other end much better than at UP as the noise from the Bobby went side ways up east Ham.

Did it sound loud in the ground? It honestly sounded eerily shit on the stream I had up. That was very stop start though, so that might have lessened the effect but it didn't look or sound anything like as loud and lively as The Boleyn.

the sound was immense. Really carried up in the corners.

atmos was ok I though, but the first game at any new ground is always going to be ipad/iphone crazy as people take their pics. first few league games will be different I reckon

Does anyone know home much we allocate for the away team for the bigger fixtures?

When everyone was singing, it was great. Nice and loud, echoing round the huge roof. First chorus of bubbles was a wonderful moment.

There was only bubbles, and a couple of 'stand up...' chants, as well as all the foot stomping.

I suppose people will start to find collective voices and more than one chant when everyone's in their proper seats and various sections start to come alive (or remain quiet)

I must have been at a different match. It was OK, not great, not terrible. We will see when the season starts how good we can make it.

I personally have my doubts about the atmosphere but we shall see. The people behind me were at least proper fans and will be there for whole season. Others around me weren't the STHs so we shall see what they'll be like.

Thought it was pretty quiet, be good to see a 'proper game'...

Where are the away fans going?

Given that history began last night, its not unreasonable?

In fact, it's the loudest I've heard at a home game since the last home game we had.

Re: Little has been made of our club record attendance.
With regard to the noise, yes, for parts of the game it was pretty quiet (matching the tempo of the game), but the point is it's also now clear we can generate huge amounts of noise in that stadium- so we can make a great atmosphere, really is down to us.

Where are all the muggy opinionists now; the ones who said we'd never fill it?

All gone quiet over there.

The atmosphere will be much better when there's a sizable group of away fans, especially those not on our christmas card list.

Nothing has been made of it because it's an interim figure soon to be bettered.
